Job summary
The Medical Education Fellow post is a unique and exciting opportunity which combines an educational role aimed at developing undergraduate and postgraduate education in Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust (BHT) with a one day a week clinical role in a speciality within the trust. It is a one year (usually non-training) fixed term post for prospective candidates who have at a minimum completed the Foundation Programme and would be suitable for candidates of any grade above FY2 up to pre-CCT.
The post holder would work with the Director of Medical Education, the Undergraduate Director of Medical Education, the Lead Education Fellow, and Undergraduate and Postgraduate Faculty to develop teaching at BHT. Time would be split between undergraduate teaching and the foundation teaching programme. There will be opportunities to develop teaching with service leads and directly deliver teaching, as well as continuing to develop supporting foundation doctors to develop their own teaching skills. As part of the role, fellows will undertake the Mastering Medical Education Programme for Clinical Teaching Fellows and Educators course, leading to accreditation with the Academy of Medical Educators.
The supernumerary clinical day will allow continued clinical exposure in the candidate's base speciality. We are currently offering clinical posts for any speciality based within BHT depending on applicants experience and preference.

Main duties of the job
Duties of the Education Fellow post holder
The main teaching duties of the post holder are to support the delivery of the BHT's high quality medical education including the development, delivery and evaluation of courses in undergraduate medical education (with students from University of Oxford Medical School, St George's Medical School and University of Buckingham Medical School) and postgraduate medical education and related activities.
The post holder would split their time 80:20 between their education role and base speciality. As part of the role fellow will undertake a medical education course leading to accreditation with the Academy of Medical Educators.
