Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the dynamic and growing Research and Innovation team at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust (BHT).

We are seeking a highly motivated Innovation Project Manager with Medtech industry experience to join our growing Innovation Team. The post holder will play a key role in fostering an environment of healthcare innovation at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust.

Our ideal candidate will demonstrate evidence of strong project planning and project management skills. They will be responsible for managing healthcare innovation projects and coordinating activities with academics and stakeholders in Buckinghamshire and the wider NHS.

Main duties of the job

Project Management and co-ordination:

o Lead planning, execution, and delivery of innovation projects.

o Coordinate with internal teams and external partners and lead project delivery to ensure project milestones are met.

o Manage project scope, resources, and timelines, ensuring high-quality outcomes.

Stakeholder Engagement:

o Work closely with clinical teams to understand their needs and requirements, establishing a strong feedback loop.

o Act as one of the primary liaisons between the Trust and external innovation partners, including universities, tech companies, and healthcare organizations.

o Foster relationships with stakeholders to identify and develop new innovation opportunities.

o Organise and facilitate workshops, meetings, and presentations with project stakeholders.

Innovation Pipeline Development:

o Evaluate market trends and identify opportunities for technology transfer and partnerships.

o Identify and support the evaluate of new technologies and innovations that can improve patient outcomes.

o Aid the integration of successful innovations into clinical practice within the Trust.

o Support the continuous improvement of the innovation process and project delivery.

Risk and Compliance Management:

o Identify potential risks related to project implementations and develop mitigation strategies.

o Ensure all innovation projects comply with regulatory standards and Trust policies.

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING

Essential

  • Bachelors level degree is essential.

Desirable

  • Relevant professional certifications in project management or innovation would be advantageous
  • Master's degree is highly desirable.

EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • Proven experience in project management, with relevant experience, preferably within the healthcare or life sciences sectors
  • If no previous grant writing experience, then candidate will need to demonstrate strong written English language skills. The candidate should showcase proficiency in articulating ideas, concepts, and proposals effectively, demonstrating the capacity to communicate persuasively.

Desirable

  • Demonstrable success in managing complex projects, ensuring timely delivery, budget adherence, and achievement of project goals.
  • Desirable to have experience working in a healthcare or research setting, with knowledge of NHS structures and processes.
  • Experience in grant writing or funding applications is highly desirable, with a demonstrated track record of successfully securing funding for innovation projects.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to foster effective collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
