Job summary

The post holder will be responsible for Infection Prevention and Control Built Environment and decontamination-related aspects within Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust. To include environmental cleaning and disinfection, medical device decontamination, water and ventilation safety, capital projects and estate issues, and supporting clinical investigations in the wider IPC team.

Main duties of the job

Post holder will be responsible for establishing a programme of environmental/decontamination audit within the, providing advice related to environmental and decontamination aspects of IPC across the Trust.

This will include environmental hygiene, such as cleaning and disinfection; medical device decontamination, including leading a programme of decontamination audits, interpreting microbiology test data, and advising on issues related to procurement; supporting the Trust-wide approach to water hygiene management; providing expertise in the validation, verification, and operation of specialist ventilation; providing expertise in capital projects and estates works, including planned new buildings and refurbishments; supporting the IPC clinical service in the management of outbreaks.

2.EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING

Essential

  • oSpecialist works and building knowledge including legislation to degree level or equivalent.
  • oPostgraduate knowledge through training in a relevant field/topic, or experience to master's equivalent level
  • oCurrent relevant professional registration e.g. HCPC-registered Clinical Scientist or Biomedical Scientist, or NMC-registered Nurse
  • oFormal training in environmental infection prevention and control

Desirable

  • Car driver with full license

Experience

Essential

  • oMinimum 5 years' experience in healthcare setting with line management and teaching experience.
  • oA proven track record of operational service management at a senior level in an acute hospital environment, including staff management, financial management and change management/essential engagement with clients - primarily infection clinicians, Clinical Groups and Trust leadership including, where relevant, patients and their carers.
  • oSignificant experience in the environmental aspects of infection prevention and control and decontamination
  • Experience within Infection Prevention and Control speciality.
  • oInvolvement in building projects, maintenance of the estate, contract arrangements for soft and hard FM
  • oIncident/Outbreak Management
