Job summary

Come and join our exciting and dynamic Integrated Children and Young People's Therapies Team

We are recruiting a remote Speech and Language Therapist on a 1 year fixed term contract to join our Integrated Children and Young People's Therapies Service in Buckinghamshire. These posts are a result of exciting and innovative service developments and redesign in the speech and language therapy service to reduce wait times for first contact with a speech and language therapist and enable earlier advice and intervention for children and young people. This post has a steer towards school-age delivery. The post is remotely home based offering a high amount of flexibility. There is an expectation to come on base twice through the year. You will be linked to one of the three cluster teams to ensure whilst working remotely you are still embedded into team meetings.

It will give you the opportunity to use your innovative and dynamic SLT skills to influence the delivery of high quality, evidence based interventions for children and young people in Buckinghamshire.

You will be equipped with mobile devices for remote delivery of advice sessions, training, assessments and therapy. We have an excellent website which provides information and support to families and people working with children in Buckinghamshire and wider.

Main duties of the job

S/he will be required to:

  • Provide universal and targeted advice to parents, early years and school practitioners, working within the SEND code of practice and service pathways.
  • Design and deliver training to an audience of parents and education practitioners.
  • Use specialist clinical skills to manage a specialist caseload of children with speech, language and communication needs.
  • Assist in the provision of specialist knowledge to a wide range of professions and agencies within the Buckinghamshire area.
  • Undertake specific responsibilities pertaining to the caseload as defined and designated by the Operational Lead, Head of Service or Team Leads
  • Support the above with the provision of a high quality service.
  • Liaise and use specialist clinical skills with a wide range of health, education professionals, Buckinghamshire County Integrated SEND team and specialist tertiary centres.
  • There is an expectation to come on base twice through the year.
  • To embed self into one of the three cluster teams within the service and attend frequent service meetings remotely.
