Job summary

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Rota Coordinator - Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

You will play a key role in managing the smooth running of the medical rota, ensuring appropriate and safe levels of staff are maintained.You will work closely with the College Tutor, Medical and Operational Team. You will also be responsible for managing the medical secretary team.

This is a busy role and it is essential that you have good organisational and communication skills as well as being confident and computer proficient with a good working knowledge of Excel. You will be a problem solver and keen to lead a team of individuals to make a difference to the working lives of clinicians at BHT.

The post holder will be engaging with doctors across the speciality, as well as the management teams. Main duties of the job

Responsible for planning and implementing rotas for Junior Doctors, Registrars and Consultants, identifying gaps in the service and finding appropriate replacements. This requires significant problem solving to juggle doctors rotas to meet the needs of the service and provide safe patient care.

The post holder will be responsible for the provision of administrative and operational support to the Service Manager for Obstetrics & Gynaecology. They will manage and lead the facilitation of the Junior doctors, working closely with the College Tutor for Obstetrics & Gynaecology. Responsibilities will include acting as line manager to Medical Secretaries and taking responsibility for locum doctors.

  • Educational standard to GCSE level or equivalent, including English and Maths
  • A levels/NVQ 3 or able to demonstrate equivalent level of experience in an administration or secretarial capacity.

EXPERIENCE

  • Experience of work procedures and practices gained in medical education, HR or operational administration
  • Experienced in IT systems (including Microsoft Office (Word/Excel)
  • Experience of managing staff

Desirable

  • Experience of working with multiple clinicians simultaneously
  • Experience of using Medirota or similar rostering system
  • Understanding of the EWTD & associated rules governing working patterns for Junior Doctors
