Job summary

This is a one of a kind opportunity to join the Operational Leadership team at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust, an integrated acute and community trust, leading a new Care Group that spans across acute, community and national specialised services.

The new Care Group brings together existing services within the organisation with a particular focus on community services and rehabilitation. It includes Medicine for Older People, Palliative Care, Sexual Health, Community Paediatrics, Therapies, the National Spinal Injuries Centre and many other services. The new Care Group brings together over 1,700 colleagues with a £90m budget. The Care Group Director of Operations will work in partnership with the Clinical Director and Head of Nursing to lead the Care Group and work across the three other Care Groups as part of the Clinical Operations leadership of the organisation.

We are looking for a dynamic operational leader with strong values who is able to lead day to day operational delivery, service improvement and wider transformation working with partners in primary care, the local authority and the ICB. There is an ambitious shared vision in Buckinghamshire for how we increase resources for and focus on community services and integrate these services and this role will be central to that work.

Main duties of the job

The postholder leads, working in partnership with the Care Group Clinical Chair and the Head of Nursing, the new Community and Rehabilitation (named tbc) Care Group of over 1,700 colleagues with a budget of £90m. This new Care Group includes the internationally renowned National Spinal Injuries Centre, vital cross-cutting services including Medicine for Older People, Palliative Care and Sexual Health, the majority of the Trust's community services including for children and young people and therapy colleagues from across the organisation.

The postholder is responsible for the operational, financial, and quality delivery of the Care Group. They are accountable for delivering business, planning and financial objectives, productivity and activity as well as co-leading the cultural development of the Care Group to create a great place to work and delivering Board priorities on behalf of the executive team. This post is also accountable for the delivery of contractual requirements of community and specialised services and ensuring that performance and governance structures are in place to assure safe, effective, compassionate, and timely care.
