Job summary
We are looking to recruit band 6 midwives who are motivated and enthusiastic about providing high quality care to our patients. You will be working within a supportive multi-disciplinary team with to provide care in a variety of settings.
The department has both postnatal and antenatal wards, a labour ward with a triage department and a high dependency unit. We also have birth centre offering care to low risk patients in labour. We have an outpatient department running both a day assessment unit and antenatal clinic. We also have a large community team.
We have several opportunities available for band 6 midwives within our maternity department. We have both full time and part time jobs available as well as flexible working opportunities. We also have flexible options of working within more than one clinical area. For example, splitting hours between the inpatient unit and our community team.
Currently we have band 6 posts available in our triage department, community, our birth centre and rotational posts, working on both the AN/PN ward and labour ward.
This exciting opportunity has arisen to work as a midwife within our well established multi-disciplinary team, supporting patients, colleagues and students.
As a member of our team the midwife is responsible for planning and implementing care for patients throughout the antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal period within their role as an autonomous practitioner.
Main duties of the job
- Promote continuity of care to provide a high standard of midwifery care to mother and baby and to provide help and support to the family unit.
- Actively promote the concept of total holistic woman centered care within the maternity services offering choice to women regarding place of birth.
- Is designated to take charge regularly of the Ward/Department in the absence of the person with continuing responsibility.
- Is expected to take part in the appraisal process, to supervise, mentor and provide preceptorship for junior staff.Is able and expected to teach, lead and manage qualified and other staff, including students and student midwives.
