Job summary

We have a vacancy for one or two part time Specialty Doctors (one x 4PAs or two x 2PAs) within the Specialist Palliative Care Team at Florence Nightingale Hospice in Aylesbury.

Main duties of the job

The post will mainly involve work in the 12-bedded in-patient unit. There may also be opportunities to offer support to the acute hospital and community palliative care teams.

A willingness to participate in the medical 1st on-call cover rota for out of hours at the hospice is required.

About us

The Medical Team at Florence Nightingale Hospice has four Consultants, an experienced Specialty Doctor, a Specialist Registrar and a GP trainee. We also have two FY2 doctors who split their time between the ward and community teams.

Essential

  • Medical Degree - MBBS or equivalent
  • Evidence of continuing professional development

Experience

Essential

  • Three years post MBBS
  • Experience in multi-disciplinary team working
  • Ability to make decisions at SAS doctor level

Desirable

  • Experience at specialist registrar or staff grade level
  • Experience in Palliative Medicine

  • Sufficient leadership, organisational, communication, professional and personal skills to undertake effectively the role of specialty doctor in a hospice.
  • Ability to negotiate & liaise with patients, families & healthcare professionals.
