Job summary

Are you passionate about working with children and young people with developmental and complex needs?

If you are then we invite you to join our team of experienced and proactive therapists. You will support our team to deliver high quality evidence-based therapy to children and young people. This involves assessing and supporting children and young people in a range of settings to include home, clinic, nurseries, and school. You will hold a clinic and community caseload, working with children and young people (0-19 years) with a range of conditions impacting on their development and Musculoskeletal issues in children under the age of 6.

You will provide not only direct assessment and therapy to children and young people but training to parents and educational staff on how to support their child's/young person's physiotherapy needs.

You will be supported by our comprehensive appraisal process, supervision, internal and external training opportunities.

A valid driving licence and access to a reliable vehicle is essential for this post.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be employed by Buckinghamshire Healthcare Trust to work as part of the Children and Young People's (CYP's) Physiotherapy Team and have responsibility to:

  • To practise Paediatric Physiotherapy at a very competent level across a broad range of duties ensuring that competency levels are maintained and improved by continuous professional development.
  • As part of a team to provide a Paediatric physiotherapy intervention to children and young people from birth to nineteen years, referred to and accepted by the service in line with service criteria.
  • To undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner.
  • To work within a variety of community settings e.g. schools, nurseries, health clinics and client's homes to provide physiotherapy intervention.
  • To work in a team delivering specific aspects of the physiotherapy service.
  • To provide training to colleagues, parents/carers and the wider workforce on all aspects of Physiotherapy delivery and intervention.
  • To take the lead on specific aspects of service development.

  • Diploma/Degree in Physiotherapy
  • HCPC Registration
  • MCSP or other recognised body from whom professional indemnity is obtained

EXPERIENCE

  • Demonstrate a broad range of post graduate clinical experience within a NHS community and hospital setting, including neurology and paediatric rotations/experience
  • Commitment to continuing professional development
  • Knowledge of common paediatric conditions

Desirable

  • Experience in managing own caseload.
  • Experience of student/assistant supervision and teaching.
  • Participation in service development

SKILLS, ABILITIES & KNOWLEDGE
