Job summary

Would you like to join the dynamic Medicines Resource Centre team, based at Wycombe hospital, working in a supportive environment to gain advanced knowledge and skills in Medicines Information and Formulary and also experience in clinical guidelines and high cost drugs? In the heart of Buckinghamshire countryside the Trust is located conveniently close to London and Oxford. We provide Pharmacy services to three main sites, Wycombe, Amersham and Stoke Mandeville.

At BHT we are home to the National Spinal Injuries Centre, a tertiary burns centre, a large ophthalmology centre and a dedicated cardiac and stroke receiving unit. This results in a patient population that has complex pharmaceutical needs and pharmacy input is essential to ensure high levels of patient care and safety.

High Wycombe Hospital will be the base site, however cross site working may be required on occasion.

Main duties of the job

  • Develop, train, supervise and motivate staff working within the MRC.
  • Support the MRC workstreams with a focus on Medicines Information and other workstreams including Formulary and Governance as required.
  • Actively contribute to the development, monitoring and integration of written guidelines, policies and patient group directions (PGDs).
  • Provide clinical pharmacy services, at a department and ward level, according to rota.
  • To ensure accurate recording of all enquiries into the MRC.
  • To participate in daily MI enquiry answering.
  • To deputise for the senior lead pharmacist MI as and where necessary.

Essential

  • Registered Pharmacist: Member of General Pharmaceutical Council

Desirable

  • Member of Royal Pharmaceutical Society
  • Completed or undertaking a post-graduate diploma in pharmacy practice or recognised equivalent

EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • Strong experience of hospital pharmacy at Post Registration Pharmacist level
  • Delivery of pharmacy services to a range of specialities including surgery
  • Experience of training of other pharmacy staff
  • Evidence of significant relevant Continuing Professional Development

Desirable

  • Experience undertaking audit

SKILLS, ABILITIES & KNOWLEDGE

Essential

  • Able to identify and prioritise tasks and organise and plan to meet deadlines
  • Work, communicate and provide effective leadership within a team
  • Clear and concise verbal and written communication to ensure liaison with multi-disciplinary team, patients and carers and to ensure records are kept accurately and in a legible manner.
