Job summary
The Buckinghamshire Adult Speech and Language Therapy Team have an exciting opportunity for a motivated and dynamic therapist to join the team. You will be a member of our ENT speech and language therapy service. The post will be based at Amersham hospital, however, the post holder will be required to run clinics at Stoke Mandeville and Wycombe hospital according need. This post is perfect for a therapist looking to gain experience with voice disorders.
Following a successful pilot of SLTs working to deliver the first contact for patients with voice and swallowing disorders we have received investment into the team to fund this post. You will be working alongside a clinical lead SLT to deliver early treatment to people with voice and throat disorders. You will also work alongside the ENT consultant team and within scoping clinics and joint voice clinics.
Post-graduate dysphagia training is essential for this post, and you will be supported to develop scoping competencies, diagnostic voice assessment skills and voice therapy competencies.
The ENT SLT team sits within the wider ENT and Adult SLT service, which covers acute to community provision. The team has a focus on compassionate leadership, staff well-being and valuing every member of the team for their unique contributions.

Main duties of the job
- The post holder will provide speech and language therapy to outpatients with communication, voice and swallowing disorders; being accountable for their own actions and recognising their own professional boundaries and competencies. The post holder will work under the guidance of the Clinical Lead SLT and Highly Specialist SLTs to provide efficient, high quality care.
- As a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist, the post holder will be independent in completing assessment, treatment and management of people with voice, swallowing and communication disorders and will demonstrate a high level of clinical reasoning / diagnostic skills. The post holder will be able to work with patients, carers and MDT colleagues to set patient centred goals and deliver personalised care.
- The post holder will work with the ENT SLT team contributing to the development of service initiatives and organisational objectives. They will continue to develop post graduate competencies in dysphagia and voice disorders, and will be supported to develop scoping and FEES competencies.
- The post holder will support junior staff and will support the provision of student placements as a clinical educator.
