Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to support our on-call rota at a IMT1/2 level and can give you the opportunity to work with the Acute Team.

Main duties of the job

This post is a CMT/IMT grade post in Acute and General Medicine to support the junior doctor and consultant team in AMU, SSW and AECU. Working hours will be Monday to Friday from 9 am to 5 pm when not on call. This post will take part in the CMT/IMT on call rota and may rarely include to travel between the two acute hospital sites.

This post will provide excellent experience in a wide range of Acute and General Medicine. This post will be suitable to doctors after their Foundation training or equivalent who would like to consolidate their experience and confidence in general and acute medicine before application for national recruitment.

The post holder will be required to support the junior doctor team of the Acute Care Hub. The Short Stay Ward (SSW) is run by the Acute Care Physician (ACP) Mon-Fri and a Specialty Physician or ACP at the weekend, supported by the On-Call medical team.

The Acute Medical Unit (AMU) is run by the Acute Care Physician (ACP) Mon-Fri and a Specialty Physician or ACP at the weekend, supported by a FY2 and the medical on call team. The commitments will consist of daily ward rounds and inpatient care within the AMU and SSW.

The post holder will also be required to support the consultant led Ambulatory Emergency Care Unit. This is a great opportunity to treat emergency patients in an outpatient setting. The role will include virtual ward rounds, clerking and treating patients including discharge summaries and follow ups. There will be a close

interaction with the nursing staff in AECU.

  • MBBS or equivalent
  • Foundation programme 1 & 2 completed
  • Registration with the GMC and licence to practise

  • ALS certificate
  • MRCP Part 1
