Job summary

A full time (10 PA) substantive post as a Neurorehabilitation Consultant is available at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust. This is a replacement post and will be based at Amersham Hospital. The Trust has a well-developed neurological rehabilitation service with 17 community in-patients beds and a community neurological rehabilitation team. In addition to sessions at Amersham hospital there will be an out-patient clinic at Wycombe Hospital, and sessions in Aylesbury up to once a week. The post will involve travel to other hospitals to see referrals as needed, and travel to the community to do domiciliary visits as required.

Amersham is situated in a very attractive part of the country, close to London and yet enjoying the benefits of the countryside with the Chilterns recognised as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Buckinghamshire education utilises an 11+ selection system and schools are widely regarded as excellent.

Main duties of the job

  • Maintenance of the highest clinical standards in the management of Neurorehabilitation patients
  • To share with colleagues the responsibility for the day-to-day management of the Neurorehabilitation Service
  • Teaching and training of junior staff
  • To actively participate in both departmental and Trust matters concerning Clinical Governance and audit
  • To have responsibility for ensuring active participation in continuing professional development (CPD)

  • MBBS or equivalent. Full and Specialist registration (and with a licence to practice) with the General Medical Council (GMC), or be eligible for registration within six months of interview.
