Job summary

A fixed term contract for 1 year is required to support the set up of our new Community Ophthalmology Service.

You will provide administrative support as well as be involved in the day to day monitoring of referrals coming in from primary care sources.

Main duties of the job

  • Manage the triages from primary care providers for our clinicians to clinically triage.
  • Use multiple referral systems to manage the referrals
  • Provide cross-cover to the cover our community sites if required and possibly Stoke Mandeville hospital to ensure a consistent and effective service is maintained at all times.
  • Ensure standard outpatient appointments are made, using the Electronic Referral System where applicable, confirming, cancelling and changing appointments as necessary.
  • Ensure patients are communicated with effectively in relation to their appointments via email, phone or letter.
  • Ensure transport and translation services are arranged where necessary by co-ordinating communications to ensure the smooth delivery of the joint service to patients
  • To ensure appointments are in line with the access policy, highlighting issues and taking corrective action where necessary.
