Deputy Sister / Charge Nurse- Frailty Assessment Unit

Job summary

We are excited to offer an opportunity for a Band 6 Deputy Sister/Coordinator to join our 16-bedded unit, caring primarily for older adults with an expected turnover of 24-48 hours.

This is a fantastic role for a motivated, experienced and compassionate nurse who thrives in a fast-paced environment. Working closely with the Ward Manager, you will provide visible leadership, coordinate patient flow, and act as a key liaison between the unit, Emergency Department (ED), and Emergency Assessment Unit (EAU).

You will use a "pull model" to identify and accept the appropriate patients safely and promptly. You will also be expected to deputise in the absence of the Ward Manager.

Main duties of the job

  • To be responsible, with the guidance of the Ward Sister for providing leadership and teaching within the Unit environment.
  • Through knowledge, good example and education, enable unit staff to deliver high quality, individualised care.
  • To provide support and supervision of nursing staff, and effectively coordinate and deploy resources within the Unit
