Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join the inpatient Medical Team at Ipswich Hospital to cover a maternity leave post. We are looking for a colleague who is confident, professional and with the clinical skills required to manage a diverse, complex caseload within a dynamic environment, providing a high standard of Occupational Therapy in the acute setting. You will need to be able to demonstrate supervisory and leadership skills to support junior members of staff and students. Opportunities to work across multiple areas which include: Cardiac, Respiratory, Renal, Oncology, General Medical wards.This position can also be considered for those wishing to develop their skills from Band 5 to Band 6 level - NHS Preceptorship must be completed.If you have any questions or queries about the role, please call and we will be happy to discuss these with you. Main duties of the job

  • To complete competency framework to enable participation in the yearly Band 6 OT rotation scheme.
  • Deliver a high standard OT service in designated clinical areas.
  • Manage a defined complex caseload under the management of the Team Leader, using evidence based, client centred principles to assess, plan and evaluate OT interventions, ensuring compliance with HCPC, RCOT, CQC and Trust clinical and quality standards.
  • To ensure as far as is reasonably practical the safety of the patients in your care.
  • To supervise and assist in the development of junior OTs, non-qualified staff and students on placement.
  • To undertake audit of both clinical practice and processes to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
  • To be flexible in working in a 7 day service with extended hours in specific settings.
