Job summary

An opportunity has arisen to join our team at Colchester Hospital in the Cancer & Diagnostics Clinical Delivery Group (CDG).

We are inviting applications for a full-time Consultant Radiologist with a special interest in paediatric and neuro Imaging.

Applicants must have completed CCT or equivalent (Pathway Portfolio) and must be on the Specialist Register.

Main duties of the job

All consultants in the department have a continuing and individual responsibility for the care of patients in their charge and a general responsibility to provide, in conjunction with their colleagues, an effective service to meet the needs of local people within the resources available.

The post holder will:

o Work with colleagues to provide a consultant-led service with the highest standards of careo Work with the multi-professional team to develop care pathways and clinical guidelineso Develop and maintain good working practices within wards, outpatients and A&Eo Collaborate and promote close working links with colleagues in tertiary centres, community services and primary careo Offer support and leadership to junior medical colleagues, nursing colleagues and other members of the multi-disciplinary team

The post holders' duties will be primarily based at the Colchester General Hospital. The timetable will include 8.5 direct clinical care sessions (1PA DCC currently for oncall) and 1.5 supporting programmed activities (SPA). 1 SPA is usually off-site. The Candidate will be expected to share with colleagues a commitment to the general reporting, Duty radiology, Ultrasound, MRI, and CT depending on interests and experience.

Accept personal responsibility for the clinical care of patients referred to him/her. Provide advice and information as required to clinical colleagues and other staff

Share responsibility for the supervision, training, and professional development of radiographic staff including radiology SpRs and other departmental staff as necessary

Attend regular departmental meetings and participate in department governance and development of the service
