Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic Mental Health/Adult Registered Nurse to join our newly established Bures Team as a Deputy Team Manager.
Bures is a new peripatetic team who supports RN staffing gaps across Colchester Hospital and Enhanced Therapeutic Observation and Care Service ETOC for vulnerable patients who are at risk to themselves or others, including patients with Mental Health, Dementia, Learning Disabilities and withdrawal from alcohol or drugs.
The team of highly trained Senior Healthcare Support Workers provide 1:1 care for these patients. Following a successul pilot The Bures Team is due to expand significantly in 2026/2027.
This leadership role plays a vital part in supporting the Bures Manager in the seven-day coordination of this valuable service.
Duties will include providing specialist review of patients referred into the team and coordinating deployment of Bures ETOC Staff, Liaising with multi multidisciplinary team and the complex health team.
We are looking for a highly professional individual currently working as a Band 6 who has excellent clinical and organisational ability with previous experience in managing staff and skill mix. You will be key to implementing this exciting project in its next phase of development.
Main duties of the job
- Day to day coordination and deployment of Bures staff in collaboration with site team/Quality Matron.
- Providing pastoral support and care during each shift to Bures staff.
- Responding to and supporting the mitigation of staffing risk.
- Reviewing requests for one to one enhanced observations to ensure they are appropriate and deploying Bures staff accordingly (supported by the Safeguarding Team).
- Contributing to the quality agenda in relation to enhanced observations and patient safety and experience.
