The closing date is 15 February 2026

Job summary

We are excited to invite dedicated registered nurses to join our expanding Endoscopy Nursing Team across multiple sites.

Our new Endoscopy Outpatient Unit at Colchester Hospital features four modern procedure rooms, the refurbished Elmstead Endoscopy Unit provides care for both inpatients and complex outpatients, and our Community Diagnostics Centre in Clacton offers two state-of-the-art outpatient endoscopy rooms.

Our team delivers high-quality care across a wide range of procedures, including gastroscopy, colonoscopy, flexible sigmoidoscopy, bronchoscopy, and advanced techniques such as ERCP, EBUS, and EUS, supported by AI-enabled endoscopy equipment to enhance diagnostic accuracy and patient outcomes.

We also provide PEG/NJ insertion and emergency GI bleed management with a 24-hour on-call service. We offer opportunities for professional development, flexible working, and the chance to join a dynamic, friendly, and supportive team during an exciting period of growth.

Endoscopy experience is desirable but not essential, and we welcome motivated nurses who are passionate about patient care and keen to develop their skills in this evolving and rewarding field.

Main duties of the job

In the role of an Endoscopy Nurse, you are expected to provide high-quality, patient-centered care by acting as the named nurse for a group of patients, overseeing their journey through the unit, from pre-procedure assessments to post-procedure recovery.

You will take on a leadership role during shifts in the absence of the ward manager or deputy, ensuring the smooth running of the unit, delegating tasks, and making timely clinical decisions.

As a Coordinator, you will support the planning and organization of procedures, manage patient lists, coordinate with other departments, and ensure that equipment, supplies, and staffing are in place.

You will also provide supervision, mentorship, and guidance to junior staff, fostering their professional development and confidence in clinical practice. Additionally, you will contribute to maintaining a safe, efficient, and compassionate environment by upholding infection control standards, optimizing patient flow, and promoting a calm and professional atmosphere.

Overall, the role requires strong clinical expertise, leadership skills, and a commitment to delivering safe, efficient, and empathetic care.
