Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity to apply for the role of a Transfusion Practitioner Band 6, part time 15 hours per week, to be worked over 2 week days. This post is at Ipswich Hospital, however cross site working to Colchester Hospital may be required.
We are looking for a highly motivated experienced individual to join the Blood Transfusion Team, to work alongside experienced Transfusion Practitioners, Consultant Haematologist's and Laboratory Managers. You will be a registered healthcare professional (NMC or HCPC or other appropriate professional body).
As part of the team, you will work with colleagues Trust wide to maintain patient safety and improve the service to patients receiving blood components and products. You will work to change and develop the services guided by national guidelines and recommendations from the MHRA and other relevant bodies.

Main duties of the job
The principal objective of the post is to provide a link between the laboratory and rest of East Suffolk & North Essex NHS Foundation Trust to ensure MHRA compliance for blood transfusion across the site by:
- Assisting the Trust to maintain compliance with legislative and regulation requirements in relation to Blood Transfusion
- Implementing and monitoring standards in relation to blood sampling, collection and administration
- Reporting incidents to MHRA via SHOT and SABRE
- Membership of Hospital Transfusion Team (HTT) and Hospital Transfusion Committee (HTC)
- Working with the Transfusion Laboratory Manager to correct deficiencies in the system
