Job summary
We are inviting applications for a full time Consultant in Anaesthetics based at Ipswich Hospital, part of East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust (ESNEFT).
This post has been developed as we expand our permanent workforce as well as bring new colleagues into our team following retirements. We are a strong and supportive department and are looking for colleagues who can bring their own skills and attributes to the department. The initial job plan will involve a variety of specialties, particularly major general/urology, orthopaedics/trauma surgery.
We are particularly interested in recruiting colleagues with significant interest and experience in 1) regional anaesthesia and anaesthesia for orthopaedic surgery, and 2) obstetric anaesthesia. Most importantly we are seeking dynamic and collaborative colleagues who have a broad based clinical experience relevant to a busy DGH and interests in both quality improvement and education.

- Must be on GMC Specialist Register in Anaesthesia or be eligible for entry within 6 months of interview
- FRCA or equivalent
- Evidence of SIA / stage 3 training in orthopaedic and regional anaesthesia
- Possession of technical skills required for anaesthesia
- Experience of working within the NHS
- Evidence of taking part in teaching of junior trainees or multidisciplinary team
- Understanding of NHS management structure
Desirable
- Current ALS and EPLS or APLS
- Instructor status in any resuscitation course
- Faculty on Simulation course
- Additional qualification eg Diploma
- Stage 3 training / significant experience in perioperative medicine, emergency anaesthesia, obstetric anaesthesia, paediatric anaesthesia and anaesthesia for other specialities relevant to a busy DGH
