We are looking for an Assistant Clinical Research Practitioner to join our Generic Research team at the ESNEFT - Ipswich Hospital Site.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working with people and is keen to gain experience in research delivery within the NHS. The Generation Study is a landmark national project offering whole-genome sequencing to newborn babies at birth - and you could play a key part in its success.

As an Assistant Clinical Research Practitioner, you will work under the supervision of the Study Lead and Research Midwives to support recruitment, data collection and study administration in line with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and Trust policies.

You will help explain the study to families, collect and record study data accurately, and assist with specimen handling and other study tasks (full training will be provided).

Our Region is supported by the East of England Regional Research Delivery Network which is part of the National Institute for Health Research Clinical Research Network which supports research to make patients, and the NHS, better.

This is Fixed term/ Secondment contract until 31st December 2026, 18.5 hours per week.

Main duties of the job

  • To assist with the acquisition and distribution of relevant study information.
  • To provide organisational and administrative support to the Team delivering the Generation Study
  • To discuss, promote and explain the study. This will include explaining relevant information to participants and undertaking consent for those wishing to take part
  • To support with the administration of the study across ESNEFT. This will include checking recruitment status and ensuring that samples and data are collected.
  • To have an understanding that all research must be conducted according to Good Clinical Practice and the Research Governance Guidelines and assist the team in upholding these.
  • Develop and maintain effective communications to foster good working relationships with all key stakeholders, internal and external contacts.
  • Deal sensitively and appropriately with all communications within the team, the trust, other trusts and external sponsors and patients

  • NVQ Level 2 / completed Care certificate

  • Phlebotomist/ Confident with Venepuncture skills
