Vascular Access Practitioner

Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join our dynamic team Located at Colchester hospital, working in the highly specialised Vascular Access service.

We are looking for an individual with a keen interest in Vascular Access and a passion for patient centred care.

You will be expected to be competent in venepuncture and cannulation.

Training will be provided for the successful candidate in the insertion, care and maintenance and removal of peripherally inserted central catheters (PICC), midlines and ultrasound guided longer dwell cannulas and blood draws.

Main duties of the job

  • To undertake Vascular Access procedures in accordance with trust policies and guidelines. Ensuring high standards of evidence based care.

  • To communicate with patients and significant others with empathy and reassurance regarding assessment, treatment and care.

  • To supervise clinicians, students, and any other staff, visiting the Vascular Access Service, or learning Vascular Access Procedures.

  • To ensure accurate and comprehensive records are maintained using appropriate written and electronic documentation.

  • To ensure that the staff have knowledge, skills and resources to carry out the care delegated to them

  • Current registration of professional body
