Service Lead - Haematology and Blood Transfusion

Job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who is professional, reliable, innovative and flexible to lead our friendly and hardworking team in Haematology and Blood Transfusion across our ESNEFT laboratories at Ipswich and Colchester.
You will manage the staff of the Haematology and Blood Transfusion departments across ESNEFT and may be required to deputise for the Head of Operations as required. You will work closely with the Transfusion Laboratory Managers, Haematology managers and Haematology & Blood Transfusion Compliance Manager as well as the senior leadership team in Pathology.
Both our labs are MHRA compliant and UKAS accredited therefore recent experience of UKAS and or MHRA inspections are required to ensure the departments maintain accreditation and meets regulatory compliance. You must be HCPC registered, and have higher qualifications commensurate to the role. You will need current experience within Haematology and/or Blood Transfusion and good knowledge of the medical laboratory accreditation standards.
For this role, you will need to have evidence of staff management and leadership experience, excellent communication skills, and a focus of training and developing our staff.

To operationally manage the Haematology and Blood Transfusion specialities at Ipswich Colchester across ESNEFT and lead on scientific and technical direction and development of the specialty.
Lead on implementing national policy, innovations, regulatory compliance and best practice for specialty.
To be the source of specialist advice for the speciality in relation to interaction with other services, e.g. IT, health and safety and customer service.
Responsible for ensuring that staff perform manual, semi-automated, specialist and fully automated laboratory investigations within a defined service accurately and efficiently.
Responsible for ensuring that staff correctly manage stock control and usage, including appropriate authorising of invoices for the service, including maintaining Blood Transfusion stock levels and records and monitor usage to ensure efficient use
Responsible for proposing and implementing relevant policies across the organisation.
Ensure implementation of policies for service improvement and propose policy changes that may impact within and beyond own area.
Communicates with colleagues, clinicians about investigations required, explains highly complex information and results to staff; trains groups of staff and motivates staff.
