Clinical Fellow in Ophthalmology (Cornea/Glaucoma)

Job summary

This is a full-time junior fellowship post for the period of one year (with the possibility to extend for another year), offering specific training in aspects of Corneal & Anterior Segment, Refractive & Glaucoma Surgery.

Main duties of the job

This post is designed to support this service and to ensure that patient waiting times are maintained within target.

Duties will include:

  • General Ophthalmology Clinics & Eye Casualty
  • Management of Anterior segment cases & Anterior segment emergency clinic
  • There may be a General On-Call commitment once the post holder is appropriately trained

  • MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
  • Provide evidence of at least 3 months of ophthalmology exposure
  • Exposure to Ophthalmic Surgery
  • Capacity to take responsibility for own actions and demonstrate a non-judgemental approach towards others
  • Displays honesty, integrity, awareness of confidentiality & ethical issues

Desirable

  • Publications / presentations in relevant area
  • Higher degrees including MSc, PhD or MD
  • Qualifications achieved in relevant area
  • Exposure to Cornea / anterior segment /Glaucoma
  • Evidence of participation in a teaching course or achievement of a teaching qualification
