Job summary

We are thrilled to offer an exciting opportunity for a motivated and experienced Psychologist to join our Pain Management team in Northeast Essex.

The successful candidate will not only be responsible for managing a complex clinical caseload but will also help guide the direction of patient care, oversee service delivery, and ensure the highest standards of practice, as part of a multidisciplinary team, committed to providing exceptional patient-centred care.

Main duties of the job

  • Clinical Leadership: Providing oversight and direction for the pain management service. Ensure the delivery of evidence-based, high-quality care to individuals with chronic pain conditions.
  • Caseload Management: Manage a complex and varied caseload, working autonomously and making decisions with the support of the multidisciplinary team
  • Service Delivery & Development: Actively contribute to service development, and ensure the team adheres to best practices while promoting innovation and integrated care.
  • Educational Leadership: Facilitate educational sessions and lead group programs, empowering patients to effectively manage their pain.
  • Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with system partners to ensure a seamless, integrated service that prioritizes the self-management of chronic pain conditions.
  • Line Management: Provide support and guidance to team members, with some line management responsibilities.
  • Autonomous Practice: Work independently while contributing to the ongoing improvement and success of the service.

Essential

  • Considerable experience of working as a clinical psychologist, in relevant settings and services, e.g. physical health and/or mental health services
  • Proven significant experience working in a senior clinical psychologist role
  • Experience of being the lead clinician in a service area, responsible for the coordination of service delivery, service development and the systematic reporting of service line data.
  • Experience of supervising the work of junior staff members.
  • Experience in assessment and therapeutic work with adults with mental health/psychological needs including complex risk assessment
  • Experience of maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems
  • Experience of exercising full clinical responsibility for clients' psychological care and treatment, within the context of multidisciplinary care.
  • Experience of working autonomously within the professional guidelines of the British Psychological Society, the Division of Clinical Psychology and the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Experience of representing clinical psychology in multidisciplinary settings.
  • Experience of providing supervision (professional/ clinical), teaching and/or training.

Desirable

  • Experience producing concise written reports for multiple audiences e.g. professional publication, annual reports, contribution to business plans/cases.
  • Doctoral level knowledge of research design, methodology and evaluation
  • Knowledge and experience of applying legislation and national guidance in relation to the physical health specialism.
  • Car Driver, must be able to get to clinic bases in Colchester and Tendring

  • Knowledge and experience of applying legislation and national guidance in relation to the physical health specialism.
