Job summary
We are looking for a Pre-treatment Lead who shares our vision in providing consistently high quality care and service to our patients. Are you passionate about pre-treatment and looking for an exciting next step in your career?
You will be a clinical expert for pre-treatment, leading on CT and MRI planning scans and be the lead in new technologies and developments in pre-treatment area.
We have a Philips big bore CT scanner for planning radiotherapy treatments and dedicated slots on the Philips MRI simulator.
You will provide the highest quality of technical practice, patient care and ensure targets are achieved and be encouraged to gain a comprehensive set of skills and competencies. You will be supported in your professional learning and development and we actively encourage post qualification study. You will also be key to the training of undergraduate therapeutic radiography students and support with mentoring and training.
You will be based at Ipswich Hospital and work alongside your counterpart in Colchester Hospital.
Main duties of the job
- Lead in all aspects of clinical work related to the preparation, delivery and verification of Radiotherapy, maintaining the highest professional and technical standards of Radiotherapy and patient care.
- Work closely with all tumour site MDT's to ensure smooth patient pathways
- Work closely with all professional leads to ensure Radiotherapy Referral Process and Service Improvements are developed and maintained to reflect service needs.
- Daily management of the pre-treatment area to ensure activities are prioritised appropriately.
- Lead staff development and training in the pre-treatment area to enable them to meet objectives and support departmental developments and policies
- Proactively optimise CT doses with the Lead Imaging Physicist, updating guidelines as required.
- Manage PGD's within the pre-treatment area, meeting Trust guidelines and practices
