Specialty Cancer Administrator - General Surgery

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated Specialty Cancer Administrator within General Surgery based at Ipswich Hospital.

This is a key role for the division. We are looking for a dynamic, flexible and enthusiastic team player to integrate with the current team and provide an efficient and effective administrative support to the clinicians, patients & other team members.

You will have attention to detail, have excellent communication skills and the ability to prioritise and plan. You must be able to work using your own initiative and be flexible to work where the need is greatest.

Main duties of the job

  • You will provide full and efficient secretarial and administrative support to ensure patients on a suspected cancer pathway receive information/diagnosis in a timely manner
  • You will act as first point of contact for internal stakeholders requiring information on patient pathway progress.
  • You will play an integral part in ensuring suspected cancer pathways within LGI/UGI are managed efficiently, mitigating delay.

Experience

Essential

  • Previous experience as a medical secretary or medical administrator.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Good command of English language
  • Knowledge of Medical Terminology and Medical Secretarial practices.
  • GCSE's A to C or equivalent in Maths and English.
  • Audio typing qualification
  • Word processing to RSA III or equivalent.

Desirable

  • AMSPAR Diploma or equivalent.
  • Shorthand/speedwriting.

Knowledge

Essential

  • Knowledge of Hospital PAS system
  • Knowledge of Digital Dictation system
  • Understand requirements for strict confidentiality.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of Access policy and 18 Week pathways
