Job summary
We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to join our established team of Advanced Clinical Practitioners in ED at Colchester Hospital. This exciting opportunity facilitates clinical training alongside attending higher level of education, allowing you to achieve the four pillars of advanced practice: - education, clinical practice, leadership and research. The post involves working as part of an enthusiastic dedicated team, across all areas of the emergency department, to ensure patients presenting with undifferentiated and un-diagnosed medical conditions are at the forefront of service provision and receive prompt timely intervention.
On successful attainment of MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice, matched with exemplary clinical practice, the candidate will have the opportunity for advancement to Band 8a. Upon successful advancement to 8a there is an expectation the candidate will then commence RCEM credentialing.
Throughout the training programme the trainee will be assigned to a nominated qualified ACP for clinical support and supervision. The emergency consultants will support you on a shift to shift basis when you are working in the clinical environment.
You will be employed for a minimum of 30 hours per week and must be able to attend university during term times for study sessions. A qualification of a master's in advanced practice must be achieved within 5 years irrespective of working hours.
Main duties of the job
As a trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner (tACP) you will ideally be clinically experienced within the field of emergency medicine or equivalent. This role involves working with working with both children and/or adults. The post will require you to develop your skills and knowledge to work as an autonomous practitioner to appropriately assess, examine, investigate and treat patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed conditions at an advanced level. The tACP will collaborate with senior medical personnel and the wider MDT as appropriate to the patient's condition. The tACP is accountable for the total episode of care.
The AtCP will contribute to service development. They will also providing appropriate leadership as required ensuring the maintenance of clinical excellence and support the provision of the highest quality patient care through personal actions and continuous improvement. The tACP will promote and facilitate evidence based practice, clinical audit and research within the department.
