Job summary

Due to retirement, a unique opportunity has arisen for a dynamic, enthusiastic and well-motivated individual to join us as Head of ESR, E-Rostering and Payroll.

The main responsibilities are the strategic and operational management of finance workforce systems team, by overseeing the Trusts electronic rostering platforms, payroll service and Electronic Staff Record (ESR) system. The post holder will be responsible for ensuring the team deliver high levels of service to end users and maximising the benefits from each system.

You will have a proven track record and experience in workforce systems and NHS financial regimes, with the ability to work flexibly under pressure to achieve the objectives of the post. Strong communication, IT, numeracy, management and interpersonal skills are essential as you will be working closely with various stakeholders, both internally and externally to the Trust.

Hybrid working although will require occasional travel to support clinical colleagues across the ESNEFT sites (Colchester, Ipswich and our community sites).

Main duties of the job

  • Responsible for the strategic and operational management of workforce systems and reporting (including electronic rosters and Electronic Staff Record (ESR).
  • Responsible for managing the contract with the suppliers against agreed service level standards.
  • Manage and develop the performance and capability of members of the teams including setting performance standards, promoting regular feedback and carrying out annual appraisals.
  • Responsible for overseeing Payroll processes are effective and in place for the payment of wages, reviewing these as appropriate with input from other managers.
  • Responsible for setting and managing the performance of allocated workforce systems against short, medium and long-term key performance indicators and system benefit realisation.
  • Responsible for understanding a range of technical systems and applications such as ESR, OLM, NLMS, SharePoint, Rostering Software and Microsoft products.
  • Develop action plans for workforce system projects, manage their implementation and influence others in achieving these; and assist with planning future projects.
