Job summary
We are looking for enthusiastic and committed midwives to join our community teams.
Community midwives have a fundamental role in information sharing to empower women to be involved in decisions regarding their care.
You will offer choice to all women on lead professional and place of birth. They will work in partnership with health care professionals, charities, local groups and local and national guidelines to provide women centred and individualised care. You will have the skills, knowledge and ability to offer care for women who choose home birth and will be encouraged to provide intrapartum care to women giving birth in midwife led wards/ birthing units and the consultant unit.
We have full time and part time hours available.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will act as an advocate for women and their families receiving maternity care and as a role model for junior staff members and students.
The post holder will work in a variety of venues including community establishments, (GP's practices, community centres and halls) birthing units, or the maternity unit at the hospital in addition to women's own homes to provide them with antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care and education.
The post holder will have a responsibility to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and adults by undertaking the appropriate levels of training, complying with Trust safeguarding policies and being aware of relevant referral pathways. Good communication with the MDT is essential.
The post holder is expected to display behaviours and attitudes, which promote and respect dignity and privacy in line with Trust policies.
The post holder will be expected to work as a team providing antenatal, intrapartum (predominantly homebirth) and postnatal care 7 days a week, with on overnight on call requirement for homebirths.
The post holder will have knowledge of Better Births and be prepared to work within this framework.
