Job summary
Applications are invited for the post of Trust Registrar in paediatrics, to join our friendly, and forward thinking team. We are also open minded to accept applications from ST1 - ST3 LAS who are looking for a development opportunity. We have a good track record of supporting more senior ST1-3 grade doctors with both membership exams, and progressing to middle grade work, or applying for a training post.
The registrar post holder will form part of the 10-cell Tier 2 middle-grade team, joining our 8 level 2 paediatric trainees, and associate specialists.
The post involves cover of general paediatrics including the ward, Children's Assessment Unit and referrals from the Emergency Department as well as Neonatal Unit. The post-holder will rotate between areas, according to clinical interests and the needs of the department. The post-holder will also undertake at least one outpatient clinic a week in an area of their chosen speciality. We are particularly interested to hear from candidates with a Gastro, Allergy or Cardiology interest.
Main duties of the job
Qualifications for Registrar required are MRCPCH or equivalent, and a period of at least two years equivalent to level 1 paediatric training, including both paediatrics and tertiary neonates. Candidates are required to be up to date with APLS, NLS and Level 3 Safeguarding.
Qualifications for ST1-ST3 required are MBBS or equivalent medical qualification with evidence of achievement of Foundation competences from a UKFPO affiliated Foundation Programme or equivalent by time of appointment in line with GMC standards/ Good Medical Practice. If applying as a developmental SHO post, then full MRCPCH would not be required, but evidence of progressing through exams would be desirable.

- Assessment and management of in-patients in the Childrens Ward and Neonatal Unit, including participating in ward rounds under supervision
- Assessment and management of sick children in the Childrens Assessment Unit
