Job summary
This is a full-time clinical and surgical fellowship post for the period of one year (with the possibility to extend for another year), offering specific training in aspects of Corneal & Anterior Segment , Refractive & Glaucoma Surgery.
The post holder will have clinical sessions at the Primary Care Centre and Clacton Hospital.
Main duties of the job
The post will offer hands on clinical and surgical experience in a broad range of anterior segment surgery. The postholder with gain exposure to the range of specialist procedures provided by the Anterior segment consultant including:
- Laser corneal transplantation: Femtosecond DALK / SALK / PKP.
- Endothelial keratoplasty : DMEK & DSAEK
- Amniotic membrane transplantation : Multilamellar
- Pterygium surgery
- FEMTOSECOND Complex cataract including Yamane IOL & capsular fixation.
- Excimer : PRK, PTK, LASIK ( limited NHS therapeutic)
- Anterior segment reconstruction : iris prosthesis, iridoplasty & trauma
- Corneal Crosslinking (Specialist nurse led service)
- Botox (Specialist nurse led service )
- Glaucoma : Trabeculectomy, Tube () , Kahook Dual Blade ab interno trabeculotomy, XEN stent , Istent,, Hydrus , Micropulse
- Laser : anterior segment & glaucoma ( pupilloplasty, YAG, SLT / PI)
- Imaging: ASOCT & UBM

There's a £5.3million molecular diagnostic laboratory soon to open at Ipswich, and works begins soon for a new Breast Care Centre and a Children's Unit.
