We are looking for an experienced Senior Grants Manager with a proven track record in leadership to join our ambitious NHS charity team. You'll help improve patients' lives by bringing some good into a difficult time, providing the hospitals with the life-saving equipment, cutting-edge technology, research and innovation.

Working closely with, the Associate Director of Charity, you are responsible for developing the Charity's long term grant making strategy; and supporting business plans which support the NHS Trust's long term objectives.

You will have strategic and operational responsibility for optimising the grant making of the charity function whilst ensuring the Charity complies with the law and regulations.

What we are looking for

  • Experience of leading, managing and writing winning proposals/bids
  • Experience of generating six figure income sums
  • Outstanding interpersonal, relationship-building and project management abilities
  • The ability to bring together key stakeholders to collaborate on a project
  • Knowledge of issues affecting the NHS and the Charity and VCSE sector
  • Knowledge of our key funding stream

Main duties of the job

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and shaping the development of the grant making function
  • Preparing annual strategic grants expenditure plan and budget
  • Establishing partnership working in relation to grant making across the Trust, ICS and VCSE
  • Alongside the Associate Director of Charity, continuously review and monitor the grant making strategy to deliver annual targets
  • Providing regular grants reports and impact reports to the Charitable Funds Committee
  • Development of effective and proportionate impact reporting mechanisms
  • Ensuring the proper and effective management of the Charity and Trust's resources
  • Operating within the annual budget and ensuring grant making policies and procedures are up to date and in line with sector regulation and guidance
  • Maintaining awareness of risks and changes in the external environment that may affect the organisation
  • Enhancing the charity's impact and profile locally and regionally.
  • Ensuring the grants team are focused on achieving its missions and aims
  • With the support of the Charity Communications & Marketing Manager, develop effective communications with all audiences across a range of media, to raise profile and brand awareness of the Charity grant expenditure
  • Oversee the recruitment of the grants team and provide operational guidance and support in delivery of the grant strategy and operational plan

MAIN DUTIES

  • Work with the Associate Director of Charity to ensure that the ambitions of the grant making strategy are met, including reviewing progress against the operational plan and KPIs.
  • Provide timely advice to NHS colleagues in the development of business cases and grant applications and agreements
  • Review and develop high quality grant applications and business cases that are robust and represent value for money
  • Signpost to other funding streams where appropriate
  • Respond to queries from grant funders and raise enquiries where additional information required to support internal business cases/grant applications
  • Manage the inputs to the grants application system to record all charity grant applications, manage deadlines, record status updates and subsequent grant awards
  • Provide regular and insightful management information, to form the basis of strategic conversations with stakeholders and charitable funds committee
  • Lead ongoing work on ensuring that Charitable Funds Committee has sufficient assurance over grant making

  • Market and deliver a variety of fundraising activities to help raise the profile and funds for the Charity

PROMOTION OF THE CHARITY

  • Maintain effective networks with all principal supporters and stakeholders.
  • Seek opportunities to expand and promote the role of the charity
  • Ensure the charity is presented in an appropriate and professional manner to its stakeholders.
  • Represent the charity in public forums such as speaking at conferences; attending sector policy forums; producing written material for the charitys own publications/promotional material as well as any appropriate external channels
  • Represent the charity in the press and public appearances when required.

GRANTS INCOME GENERATION

  • Working alongside the Head of Fundraising and Marketing, develop income generation strategies to maintain and enhance the level of funding from existing sources and develop new grant funding streams
  • Develop and build relationships with partners, supporters, funders and potential funders to maximise opportunities for grants income generation.
  • Provide direction and support to any staff and volunteers involved in grants income generation or grants expenditure activities and ensure team efforts are coordinated.

FINANCE AND ADMINISTRATION
