We have an exciting and rare opportunity for a Charge Nurse/Ward Sister to join our friendly team on Martlesham Ward at Ipswich Hospital. Martlesham Ward is a 30 bedded Trauma and Spinal (non-elective) ward specialising in musculoskeletal injuries and Spinal Cord Injuries. We take admissions directly from the Emergency Department and Spinal referrals from Colchester, Broomfield and West Suffolk Hospitals.

You will need to be a highly motivated individual, who is keen to further develop and lead. Possessing excellent communication skills. You must be dynamic and enthusiastic to lead the clinical team and ensure best practice and high standards of care are maintained at all times. In turn we are keen to give you the opportunity to further develop your skills and practice, supporting you in your career development.

This post will be to commence 1st March 2024.

Main duties of the job

  • To have overall responsibility for the operational management of clinical service delivery at ward level
  • To promote high standards of professional practice and the delivery of quality care within the corporate policies, protocols and guidelines.
  • To be accountable for the delivery and monitoring of robust infection control measures at ward/department level through relentless vigilance by ensuring delivery of all aspects of the Infection Control Strategy as outlined in section 3 of the strategy
  • To provide clinical and managerial leadership to nursing and support staff.
  • To be a highly skilled clinical expert with specialised knowledge in caring for patients
