Job summary

An exciting rotational opportunity has arisen within Woodbridge's well established leg ulcer clinic with the opportunity to rotate into the community nursing teams, as well as to participate within the development of future clinics for non-housebound patients, such as catheter and PICC line management.

Leg ulcers are of huge socio-economic importance costing the NHS over one billion pounds per year. There are in excess of 100,000 active venous ulcers in the UK at any one time, 80% of these have treatment that is based in the community.

We are looking for a permanent band 5 registered nurse to be contracted for 22.5 Hours a week.

The Woodbridge leg ulcer clinic runs a busy clinic treating all ambulant leg ulcer patients across Woodbridge. It operates 1 clinic room currently located at Framfield House Medical Centre in Melton, 3 days a week and is very successful with meeting government healing targets. It is run by a small well knowledgeable specialist team made up of trained and untrained staff.

Woodbridge has a large community nursing service offering holistic and sometimes complex care in people's homes. You will not only be working alongside other Community and District Nurses but also with a larger team of phlebotomists, assistant practitioners, skilled Generic Support Workers, Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapists and team administration colleagues.

Main duties of the job

The team work closely with 7 GP practices and there is a wealth of experience and knowledge within the current members of the team.

The team continues to change to support developments in the NHS and Social Care sector which includes close working relationships with the local statutory, non-statutory and voluntary services. The successful candidate will be actively supported by regular supervision and individual annual appraisal. You will be expected to work autonomously and on behalf of the patients within the local area.

You would also need to be motivated and committed to delivering high quality care.

There is an expectation you would use your own car for work initially. Although there is a lease care scheme which may be available for this post should this be of interest. The successful candidate must have a licence to drive in the UK.

Your duties would include wound care, leg ulcer management, pressure area care, palliative care, venepuncture, attending GP multi-disciplinary team meetings, PICC line care, male, female suprapubic catheterisation, ordering equipment, support and mentoring of studentsand involvement in link roles such as tissue viability. We offer a variety of training to up skill and maintain your clinical skills.
