Job summary

East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust is looking for an individual with a passion for IT, excellent communication skills and a willingness to learn about the technology used to deliver advanced cancer treatments to join us as a Radiotherapy Information Systems and Computing Specialist.

You will cover both our Colchester and Ipswich Radiotherapy departments where bespoke clinical computing systems are in use, including the Varian Eclipse treatment planning system and Varian ARIA Oncology Management System.

In this role you will manage and maintain the software and information systems within the department and act as lead expert. Working with internal and external stakeholders you will ensure the computer systems and software are used and maintained to their full potential.

For this post you can have a background in either Radiotherapy, Medical Physics or Computer science.

This will require a flexible approach to work ensuring that clinical services are not affected by system upgrades.

This post will require cross site working at both Colchester and Ipswich Hospital.

Main duties of the job

In conjunction with the Head of Radiotherapy Services, Heads of Radiotherapy Physics and other key staff you will ensure all radiotherapy clinical information management requirements are assessed and the appropriate governance arrangements are followed.

You will develop and maintain the functionality of Aria and other bespoke software to ensure it provides optimal return for patients and for clinical and non-clinical staff members.

In this post you will project manage the development and upgrading of bespoke software used within radiotherapy, including ARIA, to provide a complete patient record for the entire Radiotherapy pathway.

You will develop, deliver and quality assure comprehensive training programmes for the use of software systems in use within radiotherapy.

Being responsible for monitoring the quality of radiotherapy activity information which is generated for external reports, you will ensure completeness and accuracy of reports e.g. radiotherapy dataset.
