About our Pharmacy Service

You will be responsible for assisting the department in providing a comprehensive clinical pharmacy service to our Haematology and Oncology patients.

You will provide support to the Oncology and Haematology pharmacy team towork closely with departmental and Trust colleagues to ensure the provision of an integrated and efficient clinical pharmacy service.

Clinical activity will be centred around the Collingwood Centre and West Bergholt ward at Colchester Hospital site but may also include some work within other clinical areas.

You will work predominantly at ward/departmental level and will be an integral part of the multidisciplinary team.

If not already being worked towards, it is expected that you will undertake, or further progress through the Postgraduate Diploma in General Pharmacy Practice.

We will support you achieve any additional training required to work with Haematology and Oncology patients throughout the Trust.

Main duties of the job

Key Responsibilities:

To assist the pharmacy department in providing a comprehensive clinical pharmacy service at ward/department level to Haematology and Oncology patients.

To work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to ensure the optimal and cost effective use of medicines within Collingwood Centre, West Bergholt ward and other ward environments.

To participate in the further building, preparation, roll out and maintenance of the Chemocare, the Systemic Anti-cancer therapy (SACT) Prescribing System, throughout Oncology and Haematology.

Assist the Lead Clinical Pharmacist for Haematology and Oncology in developing clinical pharmacy input into the Collingwood Centre; ensuring appropriate use of the Chemocare and optimum use of high cost medicines.

Assist the Lead Clinical Pharmacist for Haematology and Oncology in the maintenance of the Cancer Drugs Fund (CDF) database and ensuring adherence to the CDF criteria.

Ensure adherence to Local and National guidelines for the use of SACT

Provide an advanced level clinical pharmacy service to West Bergholt ward and other clinical areas in line with the pharmacy Key Performance Indicators and agreed clinical standards.

Proactively support the Lead Clinical Pharmacist for Haematology and Oncology in developing the holistic pharmacy service to Haematology and Oncology patients.
