Job summary

Do you want to make a difference to the lives of patients and their families affected by cancer and aspire to become a skilled Clinical Nurse Specialist in the future? If this is you, then we are keen to hear from you.

You will work in a number of specialities and develop your capabilities to support career progression as a future Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist.

Cancer teams promote multi-disciplinary working to facilitate the delivery of a patient-centred and clinically effective service for patients and families.

An opportunity to develop your career within cancer services and fully appreciate the one patient, one pathway approach to care, whilst working with an established team who are motivated and willing to invest their time to develop your skills.

You will have opportunities to support patients at all stages of the pathway from diagnostics, through different treatment modalities, follow up and palliative care.

Professional development will be supported using the ACCEND capability framework.

We would consider applications from an experienced Band 5 / Band 6 nurse with recent nursing experience of caring for patients with cancer, and a strong motivation and dedication to develop themselves in this field.

This post is fixed term and we would accept a secondment. We are looking for you to be based at Ipswich.

Main duties of the job

  • Provide specialist cancer care, advice and support to patients, families, carers, as well as staff involved in the care and treatment of patients, within the speciality placement throughout their diagnostic, treatment and follow up pathway
  • Provide personalised cancer information and support across the whole speciality pathway, ensuring seamless care with other departments and services

  • Registered Nurse Part 1, 2 or relevant section of the register
  • Honours Degree in Nursing, midwifery, research or ethics
  • Completed or working towards a Masters Degree in nursing, midwifery, research, ethics or relevant subject.
  • Relevant specialist post-registration qualification
  • Teaching/Assessment programme
  • Advanced communication skills training
  • Level 2 psychological skills training
