Job summary

We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated individuals who are professional, reliable, innovative and flexible to join our friendly and hardworking team.

This role would suit recent Biomedical Science graduates who are looking to start their career in a pathology laboratory.

You should have an interest in healthcare science, be self-confident and motivated. You must possess a wide range of skills demonstrating good numeracy and literacy, a high standard of verbal and written English, computer, keyboard skills and attention to detail. A degree of physical effort is required and potential applicants must be able to multi-task, work well under pressure and be able to work flexibly.

All new staff appointed to posts at the Trust are subject to a probationary period. This will give you the opportunity to become familiar with the culture and working environment of the Trust.

Main duties of the job

Support both the clerical and laboratory needs of Biochemistry, Haematology and Blood Transfusion.

Receipt and booking of patients samples on to the laboratory information system, the preparation of samples for analysis, identifying and handling urgent samples, equipment monitoring, and the dispatch of samples to referral centres.
