About our Pharmacy Service
You will be based within the pharmacy department at Colchester Hospital, spending a significant proportion of time working clinically at ward level; both on the Emergency Assessment Unit and other clinical areas where Emergency Admissions patients are treated.
Support will be provided to ensure any additional training is achieved to progress through the Postgraduate Diploma in General Pharmacy Practice (if not already achieved). Although not a requirement of this particular role, support will be provided for the individual to become an Independent Prescriber if agreed appropriate.
You should posses experience of working within multidisciplinary teams and be able to respond quickly to clinical queries.
Candidates looking to move to a secondary care career from current primary care employment will be welcomed.
Main duties of the job
Support clinical pharmacy activity throughout the Emergency Admissions pathway at Colchester hospital.
Work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team to ensure the safe and cost effective use of medicines within the Emergency Assessment Unit/Nayland Ward and other ward environments, optimising medicines usage accordingly.
