Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 7 Inpatient Ward Sister/ Charge Nurse to become part of our dynamic team at Grundisburgh ward in the Older Peoples Services as part of the Integrated Pathways division on the Ipswich hospital site.

We need a unique person to provide inspirational leadership, be positively welcoming, effective and act as a credible role model to staff in the department. You will be expected to lead and develop the nursing team in this department.

This is an excellent opportunity to develop your career by taking on the role of Ward Sister/ Charge Nurse for Grundisburgh ward. Grundisburgh is a 27 bedded ward, part of the Constable suite which is ESNEFT's dementia unit. The ward provides care to older people with complex conditions such as dementia and Parkinson's disease.

You will need to be self-motivated and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Commitment to providing a quality service and a supportive teaching environment is essential. Proven experience at band 6/Junior Sister/Junior Charge Nurse level is essential accompanied by a good knowledge of staff management.

Main duties of the job

In this role you will provide clinical and managerial leadership to a large nursing team and promote multidisciplinary working. You will promote the delivery of a patient-centred, clinically effective and dynamic service to our patients from the patient's admission to discharge. Acting as a credible role model, you will support the team in their continued professional development, building a strong and caring team.

You will work alongside and have the support of the other Ward Sisters/Charge Nurses within the Division from other Older Peoples Wards and the Community Hospitals. You will also work alongside the Divisions' wider multi-disciplinary team to ensure high quality care.

You will be caring, compassionate, forward thinking, have excellent communication skills and share in our vision and commitment to continuously develop and improve. You will be adaptable and responsive to the changing needs of the service and patients.
