Job summary

The Therapy service at Colchester General Hospital is looking for a dynamic experienced Physiotherapist to work in Acute Paediatrics.

You will carry a varied caseload, to include MDT respiratory clinics for Asthma and Cystic Fibrosis, the inpatient children's Ward, admissions Unit and Neonatal Unit, along with a rotational Physiotherapist.

You will work closely with the adult respiratory team, and form good working links with the community paediatric services.

You would also need to be an experienced clinical educator, who is able to take students on placement from local universities.

Non medical prescribing and spirometry accreditation would be an advantage.

Main duties of the job

This role will suit a dynamic Therapist who has a broad range of clinical experience within respiratory and/ or paediatrics and some managerial experience. The post is based in a friendly and forward thinking department, where you will be supported by the professional leads, operations team and the other team leads.

The department is based in Colchester Hospital which is within East Suffolk and North Essex Foundation Trust (ESNEFT). This forms the largest general hospital in the eastern region providing a number of specialist services. The therapy service has a high profile within the trust and thrives on innovation and challenge.

You would be expected to work approx. 1 weekend in 5 as part of 7 day working, and participate in the respiratory on-call rota.

  • Degree/Diploma in Physiotherapy
  • HCPC Registered Physiotherapist
  • Working at Masters Level as demonstrated by ongoing CPD including 'M' level accreditation.
  • Non-Medical Prescribing Accreditation

Desirable

  • Recognised post graduate qualification e.g. MSc Respiratory Physio
  • Membership of Special Interest Group e.g.: ACPRC

Experience

Essential

  • Proven post registration experience
  • Proven Senior II level (rotational) experience of working in a relevant speciality Surgical, Critical care, Paeds
  • Highly specialist knowledge and experience of a wide range of approaches to the management of complex and chronic conditions, demonstrated by expert clinical reasoning.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the role of physiotherapy within the current evolving health environment
  • Experience of working within a multidisciplinary / interdisciplinary team
