Job summary

We are looking for conscientious, hard-working, caring individuals to join our team as a Radiology Imaging Assistant at Ipswich hospital.

Our Ipswich department is vibrant busy unit with a varied work load of in-patient and outpatient scanning.

It is essential that you enjoy working with people and have great communication skills.

You will be required to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team, be patient focused showing empathy to their needs.

Duties will involve assisting the Radiographers working in the clinical area, to welcome patients and prepare them for their scan and supporting the radiographers and patients during and after imaging procedures.

You will be required to perform clerical and administration duties.

All training will be provided for this role.

Experience of using IT systems is essential and previous hospital experience would be desirable.

This is a 37.5 hour full time post however we would consider part time hours.

Main duties of the job

  • Assist radiographic staff with positioning of patients prior to examination and to pass on relevant patient information.
  • Support the radiographers and clerical staff in the efficient preparation of paperwork related to the reporting and filing of diagnostic images.
  • Contribute in a general way to the care and well-being of the patients and clients of the directorate to include explaining examinations to patients and contributing to aftercare and to seek help in an emergency.
  • Contribute to the maintenance of patients/visitors and staff's immediate environment by recognising the need for safety, cleanliness and the control of infection and participate in stock control.
  • Undertake any duties required as operational developments occur both short-term, i.e. daily and for longer term service developments. E.g. Insertion and removal of IV Cannulas and performing observations such as BP, pulse and oxygen saturation as required as part of the role.
  • Prepare and actively participate in Trust's annual Performance Development Review process and progress reviews.

  • Current experience working in the care sector in a public/patient facing role
  • Working with a variety of service uses who may have complex healthcare needs
  • Working within a fast-paced, constantly changing environment
  • Accuracy with taking and relaying verbal messages

Desirable

  • Current experience working within and supporting clinical staff working Imaging modalities such as ED, CT scan, plain film area and ultrasound
