Job summary

We are inviting applications for a full time post, Consultant in Urology.The Urology Team is located across two sites, Ipswich and Colchester. Whilst this role is primarily located at Ipswich Hospital there is also an opportunity and an expectation that some cross site working will take place in the future.

The post holder will have the responsibility of providing a wide range of urological procedures with existing consultants, middle grade doctors, and specialist nursing and technical staff.

Main duties of the job

The candidate will be expected to develop a special interest to complement the need of the department. Necessary support and mentoring will be provided within the unit. Whilst this role is primarily located at Ipswich Hospital there is also an expectation that some cross site working will take place in the future.

Person with interest in female and reconstructive urology or with HoLEP experience will fit the need of the department across both sites. Person with interest in cancer and Trans-perineal biopsy under local anaesthetic will fit the need of the department across both sites. There will also be an opportunity for Robotic training. We welcome candidates who would have a specialist interest complementary to the needs of the department

The successful candidate will provide out-patient and in-patient urology care at Ipswich hospital which would include performing diagnostic procedures, running outpatient clinics and carrying urological surgery.

The post-holder will share responsibilities for in-patient care with the current consultants and provide supervision to the middle grade doctors and trainees.
