Job summary
There is an exciting opportunity for a B7 Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist to join the Spinal Team on a fixed term/Secondment basis until the 15th January 2024 for 15hrs per week.
You will have the opportunity to work within a MDT of Spinal Nurses, Specialist Physiotherapists, Rehabilitation Assistants and Spinal Consultants. As the local spinal hub for Suffolk and North Essex we look after patients with a variety of spinal conditions including discitis, tumours, CES and Spinal Cord Injury.
The successful applicant will have the opportunity to be involved with patient centred care to support the rehabilitation and recovery following life changing injuries. There is the opportunity for gym and ward based rehab as well as access to a hydrotherapy pool. The patients have a variety of needs including respiratory needs, wheelchairs, splints, bladder and bowel and learning how to be independent with everyday tasks. Lots of our patients are transferred to local Spinal Cord Injury centres, so there is also the opportunity to liaise with other specialist centres. There is lots of opportunity for education and training and a variety of support from local spinal charities including the SIA.
Working weekdays. No weekends or on calls.
Main duties of the job
- To provide a high standard of physiotherapy or occupational therapy in predominantly inpatient Spinal Cord Injury rehab including respiratory management, rehabilitation, cognitive assessment, PADLs, functional activities, wheelchair provision in line with SCIOM.
- To provide evidence based physiotherapy or occupational therapy that adheres to NICE guidelines, RCP guidelines, Spinal Cord Injury guidelines, CQC clinical and quality standards.

To supervise and assist in the development of junior physiotherapists & occupational therapists, non-qualified staff and students on placement.
