Job summary

It is an exciting time to join our growing, enthusiastic and dynamic imaging department. At MKUH we are embarking on an extensive redevelopment programme which includes the building of a state-of-the-art imaging centre and implementation of our new community diagnostic centres. We are currently looking to appoint Consultant radiologists for substantive full-time (i.e.,1 whole time equivalent) posts with either/or of the following 5 skill sets: Musculoskeletal, Gastro-intestinal,Genito-Urinary, Paediatric, Thoracic, Neuroimaging.

Each post offers 10 PA per week (i.e., approximately 7.5 DCC and 2.5 SPA). As a department we are open to flexible working patterns which suit the imaging service and individual needs with agreement with the Clinical Director

The MSK consultant position is a replacement post, and GI-GU consultant role is a new addition to radiology team. Both appointments offer an opportunity to strengthen a well-established cohort of radiology colleagues who deliver a reporting service across 7 days.In general, the Consultant Radiologists on call rota involves covering one weekend in twelve and one weekday in thirteen. MKUH NHS FT have successfully implemented a Tele-Radiology on-call service for CT scans from 2000 hours till 0800 hours every day.

The successful candidates will have completed formal training in their speciality area (either MSK, GI,GU Paediatric, Neuro or thoracic Imaging) and will have experience in all aspects of intervention as well

Main duties of the job

As a Specialist, autonomous working would be expected at consultant level.

The successful candidate for the MSK consultant radiologist post would be expected to be proficient in all aspects of diagnostic and interventional MSK Radiology, including reporting of Plain Film, US, CT and MRI, as well as interventional skills in ultrasound-guided intervention and fluoroscopy.

The successful candidate for the GI-GU consultant radiologist post would be expected to be proficient at reporting a range of GI-GU cross sectional imaging. This must include acute abdominal/pelvic CT, oncology follow up MRI/CT scans, CT colonoscopy, liver MRI, MRCP, renal MRI/MRA, small bowel MRI, male and female pelvic MRI and a range of acute general CT scans such as trauma studies, CT head and CTPA. The candidate should be able to independently perform a wide range of GI fluoroscopy, abdominal ultrasound and ultrasound/CT guided procedures.

Experience in thoracic, paediatric and/or Neuroimaging would be an added advantage.

At MKUH NHS FT, we use Magentus CRIS for our Radiology Information System and Insignia Medical Systems for PACS. Radiology reporting is performed in PACS and is available on Trust and home reporting workstations.

The main base for these posts will be Milton Keynes University Hospital but there may be a requirement to work at any other location where the Trust provides services such as community diagnostic centres
