Hours: 22.5 per week, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, all MKUH roles will be considered for flexible working
An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic person to join our friendly Team working in the Surgical Directorate based on Ward 20.Ward 20 specialises in caring for patients admitted who require emergency surgery.
The work required would be daytime, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
The Ward Clerk will undertake data inputting and administrative work whilst also providing reception duties for the Unit as per standard systems and processes.
They will help support effective patient flow and work without close supervision, using their own initiative when dealing with enquiries that arise. Close co-operation with Medical Records, Secretarial staff as well as the clinical staff, is vital. The post demands the ability to communicate at all levels with patients, relatives and medical colleagues to maintain a high standard of service.
The ideal candidate should be hard working, have good communication skills and be able to prioritise own workload. Previous NHS and or receptionist experience would be beneficial.
Interview date: Week commencing 5th January 2025.
Main duties of the job
To support ward staff and ward working in an admin and clerical capacity to ensure the environment is safe and effective.

- Liaison between ward and other wards and departments
- Ensuring databases and Trust systems are kept up to date
