Specialist Physiotherapist - Pelvic Health
Fixed Term Contract for 13 weeks

Hours: 18 hours per week, all MKUH roles will be considered for flexible working
We are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic Band 6 physiotherapist, preferably with some experience in the field of Pelvic Health. The ideal candidate will also have affiliate membership of POGP. Less experienced candidates will be considered, however a keen interest and desire to learn and develop new skills within a small team is vital.
Clinically you will be responsible for a mixed caseload of both obstetric and gynaecological (uro-gynae) patients from GP and Consultant referrals, mainly within an outpatient setting.
There are daily visits to the maternity and labour wards treating obstetric patients by members of the team. As a 'Fast Follower' of the NHS Pelvic Health Physiotherapy Service (Long term Plan) confidence in promoting of pelvic health and awareness is essential and will involve communication and relationship building with Maternity services, primary care and patients, as well as excellent communication skills with the MDT.
You must have current HCPC registration and a recognised qualification as a Physiotherapist.

Main duties of the job
You must be able to demonstrate the skills you have acquired with successful completion of Band 5 rotations in a variety of clinical areas.
Due to the nature of this secondment the post will primarily involve assessment and treatment of urogynaecology patients with bladder and prolapse diagnosis.
o To provide physiotherapeutic assessment of patients with diverse presentations and complex physical and psychological conditions, including obstetric and gynaecological patients.o to provide a diagnosis and develop and deliver an individualised treatment programme.o To be responsible for own case load within a defined clinical area, or a particular patient type, working without direct supervision but with support available from a senior physiotherapist, as requiredo To utilise the expertise of senior staff in order to develop skills and knowledge and consolidate learning.o To undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner.o To train and develop junior staff and midwives in pelvic health knowledgeo To undertake evidence-based audit to further own and team's clinical practice. Make recommendations to Manager / Team Leader regarding changes to practice and/or service policies and protocols. May lead the implementation of specific changes to practice or contribute to service protocols.o To represent therapies as a visible, knowledgeable, confident, supportive, and high performing professional group.
