#TeamMKUH are hiring a Registered Nurse with a high level of experience working in Haematology Services. We are looking for a compassionate and skilled Haemoglobinopathy Nurse Specialist to join our red cell nurse team.
You will provide expert care and support to both adult and TYA patients with haemoglobinopathies, as well as their families, responsible for accepting patient referrals based on agreed criteria and managing a defined caseload as the key worker, ensuring continuity and coordination of care.
You will provide holistic advice, education, and support to patients, carers, and healthcare professionals, delivering clinical care in line with approved protocols and guidelines. Working collaboratively across hospital departments and community services, you will help facilitate seamless, patient-centred pathways and contribute to the smooth running and ongoing development of the haemoglobinopathy service.
You will liaise closely with local services and the regional network, seeking specialist guidance from Lead Nurses, and work towards achieving agreed Key Performance Indicators that reflect both local and network priorities.
You will also be trained in the process of supporting patients to undergo a red cell exchange.

The successful candidate will be a registered nurse with relevant experience, ideally within haematology or related specialties, possessing excellent communication skills and the ability to work autonomously as well as part of a wider team.

The post holder will work with the Network multidisciplinary team to provide expert advice, clinical care and management for adults with major haemoglobin disorders and their families and carers.
They will ensure care is given that recognises not only individual medical needs but also their social, psychological and cultural needs.
The post holder will work within the broader multidisciplinary team and in conjunction with the adult lead nurses will provide patient review and support; family/carer support; school/higher education liaison and education and GP and community support.
Along with the clinical team, they will be responsible for ensuring the national standards for haemoglobin disorders are met and maintained.
This post involves attending out-patient clinics and supporting local teams in the care of patients.
